Our first-ever Portumna RFC Tractor Run rolled out on Sunday, 8 December 2024, and it was a day to remember. The convoy gathered at Portumna Mart, with a brilliant turnout of both vintage and modern tractors. Drivers, supporters, and volunteers from all corners of our club (from the borders of Clare to Tipp to Offaly and all across East Galway) joined in for a really enjoyable spin.
A key stop along the way was Treacy’s of Killimor, where a lively auction brought great energy to the day and raised valuable funds. The event wrapped up back in Portumna after a well-supported run and received a lot of positive feedback from everyone involved.
The Tractor Run gave a welcome boost to our fundraising efforts, helping support the construction of our new dressing rooms and contributing to the ongoing development of our facilities at Clonfert Avenue. The support of local businesses was vital.
We’re already looking ahead to Tractor Run 2025 in December (date to be announced soon), and we hope to see even more tractors, drivers, and supporters take part. It’s shaping up to become a highlight in the club’s annual calendar
